Diamond Bulk Sampling

Diamond Bulk Sampling

Kimberlite Bulk Sampling in Saskatchewan, Canada.  Unique, non-damaging airlift system drilling 24″ diameter samples to depths of 1,200 feet.  This unique project, on the largest volume kimberlite pipe in the world, required setting 36″ diameter surface casing through loose flowing sands to a boulder topped diatreme cap at close to 300 feet.

Holes are drilled to maximize tonnage, accurately measure the sample in weight and volume relative to depth and, most importantly, to ensure the entire sample is collected and the diamonds are not damaged.  A 24″ diameter system was standardized here  and all parameters encountered on the rig were measured for application later to mining methodology.
